Description: The Berkeley County "Street Arcs" layer is single-part arc feature class and is our most comprehensive road centerline layer. The Street Arcs layer is primarily designed and maintained to represent the street centerline of a given street/road for Emergency 911 services. The spatial and attribute data are maintained by Berkeley County GIS and Address Information Departments on a continual basis. The information used to maintain and update spatial and attribute information includes the following items but are not limited to GPS, aerial photography, recorded plats, recorded deed descriptions and owner input. The accuracy of the data is dependent on the original source of the street centerline in question and any additional physical changes that may have been made to street/road itself. The original digital street centerline layer was compiled by Santee Cooper and was donated to Berkeley County GIS circa 1994. Berkeley County GIS has actively maintained the data since 1994.
